Before I was saved, I spent over twenty years performing in honky-tonks and dive bars. Around 1992, I thought I was living my dream of making a career in music. Despite having individuals with financial resources and influence willing to support an album of original songs in Nashville, I felt an emptiness that worldly success could not fill. I reached a breaking point due to my selfish choices and the bondages of addiction. When I asked Jesus for forgiveness, to my surprise, He granted it; I am forever changed. Most of the songs on these albums aim to engage those who may not typically listen to traditional gospel or worship music, with the hope of directing them toward Jesus. This is evangelical Christian music. When I visit a church, my intention is to lead worship and bring people into the presence of God, not draw attention to myself.

His Kingdom first.

I believe we are saved by Grace through Faith alone in what JESUS has done. I believe The Bible is the inspired Word of GOD that has the power to continually change us as we live by it every day. I believe that there is only one name given under heaven whereby men must be saved JESUS Christ The only begotten Son of GOD. I believe true Biblical Salvation is accompanied with repentance and followed by amendment of life and good works.

Sometimes He gives me songs in dreams or just pours them into me. Many times, I will sit down without an idea and ask Him for a song and GOD Blesses what I put my hands to. If I had to pick my favorite album, this would be it. It spans the spectrum of musical influences I loved before I was saved: classic outlaw country, blues, and southern rock. Hopefully, these songs will get the attention of people who listen to this type of music, but the message will point them to Jesus. I must recognize Joe Roppolo, as he is the only other musician on this project. He played harmonica on "Hypocrite Walk." I took my portable recorder to Ins & Outs Nursery in Saint Francisville, LA, and he nailed it on the first take. Thanks, Joe.

I have experienced many missteps over the years, yet I have found mercy through sincere requests for forgiveness. The albums we produced were recorded in our home studio on a limited budget. This was the first album we ever did. Bob Scott did the recording and most of the lead guitar work. Andy James was on Bass guitar and some vocals, his wife "my niece" Charioty James ran the drum machine for us. We cut this thing live for the most part on a 4-track cassette recorder at Bob' & Connie's home.

Jesus commissioned His Church to go and make disciples of all nations; teaching them to observe and do everything He commanded (Matt. 28:19). Simply getting people to pray a one time prayer without further engagement does not fulfill the Great Commission. If a prayer of repentance and faith in Christ is offered with an honest heart, a miracle can take place. People may receive the word with joy. Those who have direct access to them must see to it that they are being discipled. They must be rooted and grounded in the Word and not be choked with cares and worries. Jesus stated that if we do not understand this principle, we will not understand anything. Just getting someone to pray a one-time prayer, waving bye to them is not disciplining them. There is a precious biblical doctrine of eternal security, but it does not come without the principle of discipleship. We must give support to new converts ensuring their lives are continually transformed by the renewing of their minds (Rom. 12:1-2).

When I experienced my spiritual rebirth on April 1, 1995, I realized that my understanding of God was far more limited than I had believed, despite my consistent church attendance. Many of my previous beliefs were not rooted in Scripture and, in fact, rendered the Word of God ineffective in my life. It became clear to me that I knew very little about God's character and that I needed to engage deeply with the Word of God, trusting the Holy Spirit to guide my studies. Relying solely on the curriculum of the church I was attending would not provide me with the comprehensive knowledge that God desired for me to acquire, with His love being the central theme. Around 1999, God moved me to a non-denominational church where I had the privilege of sitting under Pastor Frank Ebarb, a former Catholic who was filled with the Spirit during the charismatic renewal of the 1970s.I gained significant insights from attending Word of Truth Church in Many, Louisiana, where Pastor Frank consistently upheld the truth of Scripture while teaching in love. Throughout the years, I have encountered many missteps in my faith journey. My hope is that this book will help the reader to avoid them. While none of us possess perfect knowledge, we can all embrace the perfect God who loves us.

Years ago, I found myself bound by addiction to drugs and alcohol. I played music in nightclubs and led a lifestyle of debauchery. This often led to scrapes with the police and a constant circle of defeat. I was forced into secular rehabs and had to work the twelve steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. The twelve steps of A.A. are a good program if worked as originally intended; however, if they do not lead to faith in Jesus, they are spiritually futile. I believe God called me to create a step program that is based upon the bedrock of Scripture, leading to complete salvation through Jesus Christ. This is where new life truly begins. This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! {2 Co 5:17 NLT} Although we have a new spirit within us as Christians, we must realize that there is still a struggle with our flesh. However, we can now prevent our sinful nature from dominating us through the Spirit. My hope is that the disciplines outlined in this book will help people overcome the dictates of the flesh by the Spirit and Word of God.
